Raising the visibility of the arts at Binghamton University by proposing a more durable and distinct structure.
Pamela Smart, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs
Binghamton University is a world-class institution that offers students a broad, interdisciplinary education with an international perspective and one of the most vibrant research programs in the nation.
Building on its long history of providing a rigorous liberal arts education, Harpur College of Arts and Sciences, at Binghamton, has put forward a proposal to establish a New School of the Arts in order to provide a more durable and distinct structure for the arts while asserting its enduring commitment to supporting robust, vibrant and cohesive arts programs.
To support this new initiative, Red Cactus conducted focus groups and interviews with Binghamton faculty, staff and alumni, reviewed data and statistics, and compared Binghamton to key competitors and aspirational peers. The report revealed overwhelming support for the new School of the Arts and the value of bringing the arts seamlessly together in a way that is more cohesive and marketable to prospective students, parents and other target audiences.
